Wear Blue: Run to Remember

I am part of a national running group called Wear Blue: Run to Remember. When I moved to Washington state from Arizona, I really wanted to become involved with a running group. Other than being fun and sharing typical running camaraderie, we all share a purpose.

"Our mission is to create a living memorial to the service and sacrifice of the American Military. Our goals are to act as a support network, create a living memorial, and bridge the gap between the military and community. Our community is a powerful network of the American Military and their families, Wounded Warriors, Gold Star Family members, and supportive community members." http://www.wearblueruntoremember.org

Every Saturday in Dupont, WA we meet and run together to remember and honor all of the fallen military members, and to remember the ongoing sacrifice of military families and those still fighting for us. Before we run, we gather in our circle of remembrance to say out loud the names of the fallen military members since 2001. I encourage everyone to visit the Wear Blue: Run to Remember website for more information.

Circle of Remembrance
This is an important part of who I am and why I run. Now that I am in Maryland, I have continued to run with our goals and purpose in mind. More times than not, I run for a specific military member, to honor their sacrifice and their families sacrifice. On the days I do not have a specific military member, I run for all of those who cannot, including those still fighting.

If you have anyone you would like to run for or would like me to run for, please leave a comment.
